We recently talked to Iamsu! and asked him about his music, where it stands in hip hop, and where he is going from here.
Iamsu is a young new talented rapper from the Bay area. The young artist shows us why his flow is really something to lookout for in the coming months. He also proved himself in the rap game on his newest project Kilt 3, which he released on March 10th of this year. Check out our Iamsu Interview below:
Tell us about your origins and who/what inspires your music today.
I’m a rapper/producer/CEO from the Bay Area, I came up producing and writing for other artists. I’m inspired by artists like Kanye West, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, and E40.
Where did the term “Kilt” originate from?
Kilt is a term I created which means “Killing It” for example “He Kilt that verse!” Its also the name of my new album Kilt 3 which I released in March.
In terms of music flow, what are you trying to bring to the rap game?
My goal is to bring originality to the rap game and consistent quality.
Where does Kilt 3 stand in your arsenal of studio projects?
It stands at the top of my projects, my goal was to bring something magical to the table.
Who has been your favorite artist to collab with and why?
My favorite artist to collab with is P-lo, because he is super passionate about music.
Finally, what do you see your music standing for? What message are you trying to get across to your population of fans?
My music stands for positivity and truth. I hope to inspire the youth to become very successful at they’re craft and to not be afraid of being different.
