SUMMARY
Chris Webby, coming straight out of Connecticut, dropped his 9th mixtape through Datpiff. There's no questioning Webby's dedication as he has also tossed in 2 EPs, and 1 Full length album available for purchase. However, this project in particular is very average. Webby starts the album off FANTASTIC with an excellent intro track, but the mixtape doesn't reflect the intro whatsoever. In the intro, Webby delivers an amazing flow, with anger, charisma and determination in his voice, that long time listeners might not recognize from Webby, but it sounds great. No one can complain about Webby's ability to rap and deliver bars, but the problem is making GOOD songs. Throughout this mixtape, Webby touches on the same topic he always does, being braggadocios. There are a few songs that do have some messages behind them. "Questionnaire" is a pretty decent song where Webby questions everything in this world and he actually makes some valid points, this is an example of Webby making a good song that isn't just talking about how he's a "good rapper." There are very low points on this mixtape, such as High by the Beach," and "Jurassic Park." Though Webby's flow and delivery is decent, some bars are just corny. Chemical Romance is easily the best track on the project. The song goes into detail about relationships with women Webby has dated, however the women are each a metaphor for a different drug. This song is actually about Webby's battle with drug addiction and his past experiences with them. As a long time follower of Chris Webby, this mixtape was a little bit of a let down. Many followers would agree since the first "Webster's Lab" was done very well and this wasn't the sequel we expected. If this was Webby's first mixtape, then it would be decent work, but since this is his 9th mixtape, standards should be held much higher.
