Long Island’s DJ Concept is back with another mix, this time paying his dues to rap legend Prodigy. Prodigy recently passed due to his fight with sickle-cell anemia, but his legacy is clearly still living.
Taking tons of samples from Mobb Deep’s and Prodigy’s solo work, DJ Concept brings out his best behind the turn tables. Concept went straight to work after hearing the news of the late legend.
Concept keeps it real over the 23 minute long mix, and is a preview of what’s to come from the DJ. Stream RIP Prodigy above, and be ready for new content from DJ Concept.
It’s my homage to Prodigy and his soundscape, which was very influential to my sound as a producer, banging joints like ‘The Realest,’ ‘Keep It Thoro,’ ‘HNIC’… I remember thinking, ‘This is the sound I wish I could make.’
