J. Cole may be putting music on hold as he starts to train for the NBA.

After J. Cole dropped his official basketball shoe with Puma, we got an intricate promo clip to go alongside the shoe’s release. It featured J. Cole out of breath as Master P was serving his conscience. It felt truly like a marketing take, but later, Master P sat down with TMZ Sports to reveal that the NC rapper might actually be trying to become a professional basketball player in the NBA.

“I talked to J. Cole, he was like ‘You know, big dawg you did it. What do you think I would have to do to make it happen?’ I said to get one of these NBA jerseys, it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be a lot of hate, it’s gonna be a lot of people not believing in you.” He refers to Master P’s time in the NBA, one of the very selectives to have a double career. Serving as not only Cole’s metaphorical conscience but also his mentor, Cole might just have what it takes to play in the NBA.
