This Weeks edition in MAKING THE SCENE comes a fresh american emcee straight out of Chicago, G Herbo aka Lil Herb. Herbo brings a fresh new sound to the hip hop world releasing his first mixtape “Welcome To Fazoland” which was critically acclaimed. “Welcome To Fazoland” dropped August 19, 2014 and ever since then Herbo’s been attracting attention after attention. Scoring a spot on Complexes magazine they praised his agile lyrics and artful beats to be a unique style. Canadian singer/rapper Drake also had a few words to say about Lil Herb saying he’s “the future.”

Herb also had a run in with the BET Awards scoring him four out of five stars on the mixtape or his use of “heavy bass, rapid fire snare and the occasional synth to accompany herbs stories of paranoia, drug dealing and constant danger that tend to consume his psyche.”

Herbos collaborations with other popular artists like Lil Bibby, Joey Bada$$, and Lil Durk spread his style over a range of songs. When Herb didn’t make the cut for the @015 XXL cover in March, outcry and controversy struck. Fans argued and attacked XXL for not featuring Lil Herb when he clearly was deserving of that spot. Herb then went to respond to the fans and XXL releasing a single “XXL” check it here.


On September 3rd, 2015 the Chicago spitter scored a deal with Cinematic Music Group producing his hit mixtape “Ballin’ Like I’m Kobe” on the 29th. “Ballin’ Like I’m Kobe” is a fresh hard album that is a must cop. Popular tracks like “Countin’ 100’s” to “Don’t Worry Ft. Lil Bibby” keep this album a 5 star rating on Itunes and over 10 million hits on MyMixtapes.
